'The Winged Seahorse (Hippokampos) Brooch was part of the 7th century BC Lydian Hoard which is known in Turkey as the Karun Treasure. The body of Hippokampos is a sea creature with wings, consisting of half of the horse and half of a fish. There is no unique birth legend in Greek mythology yet he serves Poseidon along with other sea creatures. The creature, which has a body of horse and fishtail in origin, is not found in eastern arts. However, creatures consisting of fish human fusion are figures placed in the art of Mesopotamia to create protective magic as a statue or relief at the entrances of temples and palaces in the New Assyrian and New Babylonian Period.'

Orders are dispatched twice a week from Milan or Istanbul via UPS, DHL, or FedEx. Tracking details are provided by email once your order ships.

Returns

We accept returns of unworn and unused items in their original condition and packaging within 14 days of delivery.
